A report by IHS Markit that was commissioned by the Department of Community and Economic Development concludes that the state must be “aggressive” in its pursuit of economic development projects that are filtering billions of dollars into Pennsylvania’s economy and securing our status as a world-class energy exporter.
There are several projects under construction or that recently became operational in Pennsylvania that are helping get natural gas to market.
Atlantic Sunrise Pipeline Project
$3 billion investment
Approximately $1.6 billion in additional wages, revenues and investments
Nearly 8,000 direct and indirect jobs
Designed to supply enough natural gas to meet the needs of more than 7 million homes and businesses
PennEast
Pipeline Project
$1.62 billion investment
Will spur an additional $520 million in indirect and induced impacts in Pennsylvania
Will support 12,160 jobs with $740 million in wages
Mariner East Pipeline Project
$3 billion investment
Will support more than 15,000 jobs a year
Will contribute $62 million in taxes over the two-year construction period
Expected to sustain 300 to 400 permanent jobs
Expected contribute at least $100 million annually to our state’s economy once operational.
